For veterans facing housing instability, addiction, financial hardship, mental health challenges, or the difficult transition back into civilian life, the right support system can be life-changing. In Jacksonville, Five STAR Veterans Center is focused on helping veterans move from instability toward independence through structure, purpose, and care.
Led by CEO John Bear, a veteran himself, Five STAR Veterans Center serves as more than a place to stay. It is a nonprofit veterans center in Jacksonville dedicated to restoring hope and independence for homeless veterans through stability and purpose.
About Five STAR Veterans Center
Five STAR Veterans Center is a nonprofit organization founded in March 2012 to assist veterans in overcoming a variety of challenges, including addiction and financial hardships. The organization has a specific focus on mental wellness, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries.
Today, up to 35 veterans can reside at Five STAR and participate in programs designed to help them overcome personal challenges, reenter the workforce, and achieve a sustainable, independent life.
A Mission Rooted in Hope, Stability, and Purpose
The mission of Five STAR Veterans Center is clear: to restore hope and independence for homeless veterans through stability and purpose.
That mission is especially important for veterans who need more than temporary shelter. Many are working through complex challenges that require consistency, accountability, encouragement, and a path forward. Five STAR Veterans Center helps provide that pathway through its Passport to Independence Program.
What Makes the Passport to Independence Program Different
Five STAR Veterans Center differentiates itself through a structured, phased model that does not simply shelter veterans. The Passport to Independence Program is designed to move veterans toward independence.
The program is led with military-informed care and held to VA Grant
